Processional and Recessional premiered at the composer’s own wedding ceremony

On September 11, 2021 Jan Järvlepp and Jane Staples were married at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Ottawa by Rev. Joel Crouse. Composed especially for this ceremony were the Processional and the Recessional. Performing were Alla Perevalova - violin, Steve Smith - cello and Keegan Lazarus - piano. 

Garbage Concerto in Jena, Germany

On March 8, 2020, the Jenaer Philharmonie, under the direction of Simon Gaudenz, performed the Garbage Concerto at the Volkshaus in Jena, Germany. Local percussionists played the solo parts on their homemade instruments

Ottawa Symphony premieres Brass Dance, orchestral version

On October 7, 2019, the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Alain Trudel, gave the first performance of the orchestral version of Brass Dance at Dominion-Chalmers, Ottawa. ​

Performances at the Music and Beyond Festival

On July 10, 2019, Pascale Margely - flute, Roxanne Léveillé - clarinet, and Jan Järvlepp - electric guitar, performed the premiere of the clarinet version of Seagulls at All Saints, Ottawa. Cellist Raphael Weinroth-Browne and pianist John Dapaah played the premiere of The Rise and Fall of the Avro Arrow at the Museum of History on July 12, 2019. They repeated it at their own recital at Beechwood Cemetery, Ottawa on August 31, 2019. 

Fourtissimo plays the Garbage Concerto in Mexico City

On May 26, 2019, the Orquesta Juvenil Universitaria Eduardo Mata, OJUEM (Eduardo Mata Youth Orchestra), directed by Vladimir Sagaydo, performed the Garbage Concerto with soloists Topacio Ortiz, Marco Antonio Mora, Eduardo Torres and Bryan Flores, collectively known as Fourtissimo. The event took place at Sala Nezahualcóyotl on UNAM’s campus. This is the fifth orchestra in Mexico City to perform this work.

The Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Yi Huang, played The Garbage Concerto on November 18, 2018 at Xinghai Concert Hall, Guangzhou, China. The Ju Percussion Group were the soloists.

Garbage Concerto in Beijing, China

The China Philharmonic Orchestra, under the direction of Xia Xiaotang, played The Garbage Concerto on November 23, 2018 at China Philharmonic Concert Hall, Beijing, China. The Ju Percussion Group were the soloists. It was the group’s seventh performance of this piece in 2018.

The Strings of St. John's, under the direction of David Thies-Thompson, played In Memoriam on November 4, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist Church, Ottawa, Canada. The performance was dedicated in memory of the late cellist Rick Tersteeg.

Garbage Concerto in Shenzhen, China

The Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Zhang Jiemin, played The Garbage Concerto on November 2, 2018 at Shenzhen Concert Hall, Shenzhen, China. The Ju Percussion Group were the soloists. This was the first performance of Järvlepp’s music in China while the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra was the sixth orchestra to perform this piece in 2018.

Garbage Concerto in Laval, Québec

The Laval Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Alain Trudel, performed the Garbage Concerto on September 26, 2018 in Laval, Québec (just North of Montréal, Canada). The Sixtrum percussion ensemble were the soloists. The event, entitled Révolution, took place in Salle André-Mathieu, Laval.

Garbage Concerto in Taiwan

The Taipei Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Domonkos Héja, performed the Garbage Concerto on May 25, 26 and 27, and June 3 in Taichung, Taipei and Kaohsiung. The Ju Percussion Group were the soloists. An educational film was made of the performance.

On April 10, 2018, The Freiburg Philharmonic Orchestra, directed by Simon Gaudenz, gave the first German performance of the Garbage Concerto in the Konzerthaus Freiburg. Members of the orchestra were the percussion soloists.

Lord's Prayer in Ottawa church service

On Palm Sunday, March 25, 2018, the Ottawa Finnish SIngers performed the Lord's Prayer setting in a service of the St. Michael's Finnish Lutheran Church congregation held at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Ottawa. 
Participating were Susan Morse - flute, Karen Jarvlepp - violin, Jan Jarvlepp - cello, and Mai-yu Chan - organ.

Garbage Concerto in Ottawa student concerts

On February 3 and 5, 2018, the National Arts Centre Orchestra, under the direction of Alain Trudel, gave four performances of the first movement of the Garbage Concerto in a series of student concerts, known as Symphony Hack Lab, at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa. The soloists were Ken Simpson, Jonathan Wade,  Reynaliz Herrera, Kristofer Maddigan and Andrew Harris.

On January 20, 2018, the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of George Del Gobbo, performed the Garbage Concerto in the Bill Heard Theater at the RiverCentre for the Performing Arts in Columbus, Georgia. Paul Vaillancourt & Up/Down Percussion were the featured percussion soloists.

Premiere of Street Music for orchestra

On April 21, 2017, the Parkdale United Church Orchestra, under the direction of Angus Armstrong, gave the first performance of the orchestral version of Street Music in a concert entitled Canada's 150th: A Celebration of Canadian Composers. This piece started life as the last movement of the Symphony for Brass and Percussion which was also premiered by Armstrong conducting Capital Brassworks. The event took place at the Plant Recreation Centre, Ottawa. The next evening they performed it at their usual venue, Parkdale United Church, Ottawa. See the YouTube video of their performance:

Carillon pieces in concert

On July 18, 2017, Gordon Slater performed an all-Canadian carillon recital on the 53-bell Peace Tower Carillon, at the Parliament Buildings, Ottawa, Canada. Included in the program were Morning Music and Afternoon Music from the Time Traveller Suite.

On July 16, 2017, the Junior Thirteen Strings ensemble, conducted by Brigitte Amyot, performed the Suite for Strings and In Memoriam as part of the Ottawa Family Music Expo held on the University of Ottawa campus.

On July 11, 2017 In Memoriam was performed at the Music and Beyond festival by Marc Djokic, Jasper Wood, David Marks, Julian Armour and Paul Mach. The event took place at First Baptist Church, Ottawa as part of a Canada 150 concert.

National Orchestra of Mexico performs the Garbage Concerto

On March 17 and 19, 2017, the National Orchestra of Mexico, under the direction of Brazilian conductor Alexandra Arrieche, performed the Garbage Concerto at the Palace of Fine Arts (Palacio de Bellas Artes), Mexico City. Tambuco were the featured soloists. This is the fourth orchestra in Mexico City to perform this piece.

Lord's Prayer heard in Toronto church service

On May 8, 2016, St. Peter's Estonian Church used the Lord's Prayer setting in their church service. Margit Viia-Maiste conducted the church choir.

ONMC and CLC present a workshop including unfinished Jarvlepp piece

On April 9, 2016 at the MacOdrum Library of Carleton University in Ottawa, Ottawa New Music Creators and the Canadian League of Composers gave a workshop featuring new trios for the unusual combination of flute, tuba and piano. Included was an incomplete new work by Jan Jarvlepp. Performing were Casey Granofsky - flute, Andrew Nowry - tuba and Daniel Medizadeh - piano, also known as the Pft! Trio.
